MFS STUDFARM is a highly regarded sport horse breeding establishment in the UK, breeding mainly KWPN, Oldenburg and Hanoverian dressage, showjumping and eventing horses. The Stud is located in a beautiful part of the North East of Scotland, overlooking the Moray Firth/North Sea, just 40 miles from Aberdeen International Airport.  It is home to some of the best arable land in the UK where horses thrive on the top quality grass.

We pride ourselves on our reputation, which is to give mare owners the best available packages on our stallions, including live foal guarantee, and for purchasers to know that we breed from the best available mares and stallions world-wide, with emphasis on bloodlines, temperament, conformation, movement and jumping ability.  The Stud has been established for several years, with a lot of emphasis on using only Licensed/Approved breeding stallions, and having some of the best proven marelines in the world.  The quality we breed is exactly the same as you would find anywhere in Europe, with our foals receiving full breeding passports and papers with the British Hanoverians, Oldenburg, KWPN, Anglo European Studbook or Scottish Sportshorse. 

MFS STUDFARM is owned by Gordon & Caroline Ironside and was founded several years ago.  The Studfarm has gone from strength to strength each year, improving on the quality of horses that they are breeding, selecting only the best of stallions and using only the very best of mares.  

The Stud has many accolades to its name including winning the BEF (British Equestrian Federation) Breeding Award for the Best Yearling in the Futurity Series for 2009 and the HORSESCOTLAND EQUINE BREEDER OF THE YEAR 2015!

​We have bred Champion foals and youngstock that have topped the BEF Futurity, Annual Breed Shows, Young Horse Championships and some of the biggest County Shows in the UK and USA.

Besides this we have also bred multiple Regional Dressage Champions from 2013 to 2018 up to International Small Tour, National Reserve Dressage Champions 2013 and 2015, National Dressage Champions in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and horses that are jumping at National and International level in the UK and in Europe up to 1.60m!

In 2018 we started the year by winning the EQUINE BREEDER OF THE YEAR voted by the public at the Scottish Equestrian Awards.

We understand that the mare is the most important factor when looking to breed quality young horses for the future.  We therefore breed with the best mares available to us.   All of our mares  have either competed in sport or descend from lines of proven sport producers.  

It comes as no surprise that due to the quality we have produced in the disciplines of dressage and showjumping, that we were awarded Equine Breeder of the Year 2015 by HORSESCOTLAND and Equine Breeder of the Year 2017 by the Scottish Equestrian Awards.

You can guarantee that quality is assured through the whole process of selecting an MFS bred young horse, from the mares to the stallions.  We are breeding for trainability, soundness, movement and jumping ability.

The results speak for themselves.....

The results of our homebred horses speak for themselves.  We have produced numerous young horses that have won Championships at Breed Shows, and Premium Foals.  In dressage we have produced National Champions, in showjumping we have horses now competing at International Grand Prix level.  Not to mention we now have several young horses with prominent riders.  

We have created many great relationships with people over the years, with several clients both in the UK and abroad coming back to us time and again for top quality horses.
